Salim is a Business Development, Sales & marketing management professional with 20 years of proven leadership and experience with large multinational companies in Africa and North America.

He started his career in 1997 with the French multinational integrated oil and gas company, TOTAL (one of the 5 supermajors), where he spent 10 years in Sales, Marketing and Business Development roles. (Territory Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Business Development and Marketing Manager). In Cote d’Ivoire where he was based, Salim oversaw the activities of a network of 60 gas station with a $4 millions budget and about 500 employees. He also managed major projects aiming at developing both revenue opportunities and securing new businesses for the company.

After a successful career at TOTAL, Salim relocated to the United States in 2007 to further his career and entered the real estate business. He joined ASK Capital, a Real Estate Consulting and Private Equity Venture, where he was responsible for the firm’s marketing and business development strategy.

In 2009, Salim launched Africa Diaspora Consulting, an advisory boutique that is intended to leverage the expertise, talent, and resources of the African diaspora in the USA to tackle the challenging problems facing Africa. As a Free-Lance Consultant, he assisted and advised various organizations and Corporations based in Africa and the USA, targeting the growing African Diaspora market (Real Estate, telecommunication, education…).

In June 2012, Salim’s passion and expertise for the African immigrant communities caught MoneyGram International’s attention. The leading and global remittance company offered him a full-time position as the African Corridor Development Manager. Salim oversaw the independent retail business development activities for money transfers sent from USA and Canada to Africa.

Since March 2018, Salim decided to focus exclusively on his business consultancy activities with Africa Diaspora Consulting. He is now joined by other highly educated and seasoned professionals African Diaspora members, who are all passionate about Africa development.

Besides his professional life, Salim is also a long-time community leader as he has always been
involved in various non-for-profit organizations, playing for most of the part key leadership roles. He was recently awarded by the Universal Peace Federation (a UN-affiliated organization) as Ambassador for Peace in recognition of his dedication to the African Diaspora.

Salim holds two Master Degrees. One in 1998 from ESCA, the #1 Business School in Cote d’Ivoire and one of the best in West Africa (Finance); and in 2015 from the prestigious Ivy League institution, New York University – NYU (Management, Strategy & Leadership). At NYU, his education included a complete Project Management training course.

Salim is a US Citizen but was born and grew up in Cote d’Ivoire from parents originally from Mali.
